Supporting defence and foreign ministries of NATO countries to assign budgets for conflict prevention
Currently few nations have developed a financial provision for the prevention of conflict, and it is clear that policy gains traction when there is an established budget. Business Plan for Peace works to widen support among NATO nations for the allocation of a Prevention Budget – within or alongside their defence budget.
We know from Understand to Prevent, authored by 7 NATO countries and partners, that the military are skilled, able, and have a clear role in the prevention of armed conflict. Conflict prevention, in place of crisis response, is also now a priority for an increasing number of foreign and development ministries.

Business Plan for Peace offers consultative support, facilitates meetings and learning events for government departments and between Member States with the aim of agreeing appropriate ways to ensure significant funds are dedicated to preventing armed violence.
